The City of East Point Fire Department, established in 1908, has evolved into a multifaceted and proactive community based organization committed to delivering the highest quality of comprehensive safety services.
The City of East Point Fire Department responds to approximately 9,000 Fire and EMS calls annually from 3 strategically placed fire stations. In order to provide the highest level of Fire and EMS services for the residents of East Point, we hire and maintain a well trained workforce that exceeds both local and national standards for training and utilize state of the art equipment and resources geared toward reducing the number of fires and deaths caused by fire.
Our mission is to prevent disastrous incidents from occurring and to minimize damage to life, property and the environment. The City of East Point spans approximately 13.5 square miles and has a population of more than 38,000 residents. The City has a thriving commercial district in the Camp Creek Marketplace and a Downtown area made up of established restaurants and shops.
The East Point Fire Department has been innovative with their Homeland Security management and in creating public education programs that provide quality service delivery to the community in a cost effective manner.
Over the years, the Fire Service has grown to encompass a myriad of life threatening events. These often complex emergency situations demand specialized training, apparatus, and equipment. The East Point Fire Department takes an all-hazards approach to serving its citizens and is committed to providing specialized response in the following areas:

Free Home Fire Safety Inspections
The City of East Point Fire Department provides a comprehensive and challenging recruit school. Once an individual successfully completes the hiring process, they are entered into 12 month program that includes both fire and emergency medical technician training. Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent recognized by the State of Georgia
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must not have a felony conviction with the last 10 years
- Must have an acceptable seven year driving history, criminal and character background
In addition to the minimum qualifications, all candidates must successfully complete the following:
- Physical Agility Test
- Written Aptitude Test
- Oral interview
- Psychological Interview
- Medical Evaluation
Our training staff has an average of ten years in the fire service. Using National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) guidelines, the training staff designs coursework that lays the foundation that will help candidates succeed in this profession and in all facets of their life.
Award Ceremony
We host an annual ceremony and dinner to honor the East Point residents, our valued business community and our brave firefighters for their meaningful contributions to the city.
Be Cool About Fire Safety
This is an annual event hosted each October by the City of East Point Fire Department that is aimed to educate area students about Fire Prevention. This event is done in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) and several local businesses. We teach about fire safety though multiple teaching modalities, including interactive skits, puppet show, and songs.
Career Day
Fire representatives visit schools in East Point upon request to talk about the exciting careers that can be found in the Fire Service. We also discuss the skills and requirements needed to become a Firefighter.
Child Safety Seat Installations
Parents are trained on how to correctly install child safety seats from one of our certified car seat technicians. Free child seats are offered to City of East Point residents to replace worn and damaged seats in addition those found on recall lists.
Community Awareness Festival
Formerly known as the East Point Fire Department Health Fair, this annual event features free health screenings, information, free food, live entertainment and more.
CPR/AED Training
A 3 hour CPR/AED Class is available for all residents and business residing in East Point.
Door-to-Door Canvassing
City of East Point Fire Firefighters and Officers go door-to-door after a neighborhood fire to offer fire prevention information, free home inspections, and smoke alarms.
Fire Extinguisher Training
We offer instruction on the proper use, care, and maintenance of fire extinguishers.
Fire House Safety
This is our inflatable and mobile teaching tool that used to educate children on visible and hidden dangers within the home, kitchen safety and home escape plans.
Fire Station Tours
We love to open our doors to organizations, schools, and other groups to tour one of our three Fire Stations. Learn about fire safety measures from the best!

Neighborhood Association Meeting
Firefighters and Officers provide weekly presentations at over 100 Neighborhood Association Meetings annually. Topics often include upcoming events, emergency planning, fire prevention, and home safety.
Smoke Alarm and Carbon Monoxide Detector Program
Free smoke alarms and Carbon Monoxide Detectors are installed upon request.
