The Office of Communications serves as the primary source for public information, emergency notifications, and media relations at both local and national levels. Our team is responsible for creating and distributing news releases across various platforms, including broadcast, print, and online media, fostering positive relationships that promote balanced reporting of City news.
Additionally, we oversee the City’s municipal channel, EPTV, which airs on Comcast Channel 22, ensuring its management and content delivery. Our office also records and broadcasts regular City Council Meetings, Work Sessions, and Planning & Zoning Commission Meetings to enhance public access to government proceedings.
Beyond media relations, the Office of Communications manages City newsletters, email marketing campaigns, and official social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Our mission is to provide timely, accurate, and transparent information, supporting open government and keeping the community well-informed.
The Office of Communications is tasked with being the central contact for all public information, emergency messages, news and media including local and national media. Our team creates and circulates all News Releases through various outlets including broadcast, print and online media. Our Office aims to develop positive media relations that encourage balanced reporting of City news. In addition, the City’s Municipal Channel, EPTV airing on Comcast Channel 22 is under the purview of the Office of Communications, which is responsible for guiding and maintaining the channel. The regular City Council Meetings and Work Sessions are also recorded and broadcast by our office.
The Office of Communications is also responsible for creating and dispersing City Newsletters, Email Marketing Campaigns as well as managing the City’s Social Media outlets – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. The Mission of the Office of Communications is to gather and provide timely and accurate information to encourage and support open government and to keep the community informed.

This technology builds trust between citizens and East Point staff by making it easy to report, manage and resolve non-emergency service requests in the City.
